The DxAMR Collaborative is featured in a recent commentary published in The Lancet Digital Health titled The global Dx AMR collaborative: an approach to strengthen the role of diagnostics in combating antimicrobial resistance.

The article sets out the case for strengthening the role of diagnostics in global efforts to address antimicrobial resistance (AMR), highlighting the need for coordinated, sustainable approaches to improve access to diagnostics, support appropriate antimicrobial use, and strengthen surveillance – particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

The commentary reflects on the launch of the DxAMR Collaborative, coordinated by the Fleming Initiative, and outlines how international collaboration across research, policy, industry and implementation partners can help translate diagnostic innovation into practice.

The paper is authored by Dr Cecilia Ferreyra, Professor Gordon A Awandare, Dr Mirfin Mpundu, and Dr Derek Cocker, who are all members of the DxAMR Collaborative.

The article contributes to ongoing global discussions on the importance of diagnostics as a core component of AMR strategies, at a time when international funding and support for AMR programmes face increasing pressure.
